Seoul National University (SNU) International Summer Institute


What is this program about?

Seoul National University International Summer Institute (SNU ISI) offers an exceptional opportunity for students to study at Korea's most prestigious university and one of the leading universities in the world. SNU ISI offers an intensive five-week summer program led by distinguished international faculty. Students can experience a full immersion into Korean culture and society through interaction with SNU students, cultural and industrial excursions and special lectures. Located at the foot of Mount Gwanak, the SNU campus is well-known for its beauty and serves as a convenient base for exploring Seoul and Korea.

What is the academic content?

Classes will be conducted from Monday to Thursday and are taught entirely in English.

Students can take 2 or 3 courses among given courses and must take at least 2 courses to be enrolled in the ISI program. Students could choose their courses from various fields such as East Asia Studies, Korea Studies, China Studies, Japan studies, General courses and Practical courses.

Academic credit MAY be available. Credit for the programme is strictly at the student’s discretion. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit mapping. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.


What does it include?

Tuition Fee only covers the courses. Accommodation costs, class materials, field trips etc are additional costs.

Is financial assistance available?

Yes. Students can apply for a study travel grant from the International Relations Office.


Number of placements available?

Direct application to SNU, number of placements dependent on SNU’s admission policy for the year


What are the eligibility requirements?

 
  • NUS undergraduates from any faculty who have completed at least one year of study at NUS prior to participating in this programme.
  • Students should not be in their graduating semester prior to participating in this programme.

 

Is a visa required?

Yes. SNU will assist in providing documentation needed to apply for a visa.

Students are to consult the Embassy of Korea in Singapore to determine if a visa is required and to apply for an entry visa if needed.
