International Internship Programme

What is this programme about?

European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. In 2009, the Group’s 10th anniversary year, EADS - comprising Airbus, Eurocopter, Astrium and Cassidian – generated revenues of € 45.8 billion and employed a workforce of some 122,000.

Since 2009 EADS Innovation Works Singapore has sponsored NUS undergraduate students on an internship at one of EADS Innovation Works sites around the world. The goal is to develop young talent for aerospace industry. NUS students have participated in internships to the United Kingdom (2009), Singapore (2010), and France and Germany (2011).


When does the programme take place?

May – November for 4 to 6 months. The internship can also fall outside summer vacation depending on the flexibility of host office overseas.

EADS Innovation Works sites around the world.


What is the internship content?

From Faculty of Engineering and School of Computing.

Full time internship at EADS Innovation Works.

Academic credit MAY be available. Credit for the internship is strictly at the student’s discretion. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit mapping. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.


What is the student accommodation?

Overseas EADS office assists interns in locating suitable accommodation options.


How much does the programme cost?

Below is an estimate of expenses for a 4 month internship in a European city. Since some internship positions can be from 4 to 6 month long and cost of living may vary according to location of the internship, students are to make proper adjustment to their cost estimate according to the internship length and location.

Is financial assistance available?

Yes. Students can apply for a study travel grant from the International Relations Office.

Please note, no additional funding is available from EADS.


Number of placements available?

2 positions per year


What are the eligibility requirements?

 
  • Full time NUS undergraduates
  • From Faculty of Engineering and School of Computing
  • Completed  at least 1 year of studies 
  • Have obtained a CAP of 3.0 and above

 

Is a visa required?

EADS will assist in providing documentation needed to apply for a visa.

Students are to consult the appropriate Embassy in Singapore to determine if a visa is required and to apply for an entry visa if needed. 

Students are responsible for ensuring that they have proper entry documents for all countries they plan to visit as part of this programme!

Placement Process:

EADS Singapore reviews applications and shortlists candidates nominated by NUS Faculties. Shortlisted students will be asked to attend an interview at EADS office in Singapore, and a teleconference interview with overseas offices if necessary. Selected students will be informed of the offer by end of March (tentative).
